Resonant & Wrenching

I was born about 15 years too late.I recently bought this book as a Christmas present for a girl. I also purchased a blank b/w composition notebook and a packet of pens to put with it. Moss's illustrations are hilarious and thoughtful as usual. One set of pages I especially liked was a list of sounds that Amelia tries to explain to the deaf friend she has made (ie. a cat purring is like a sweater right out of the dryer). Very cute.

Author's commentsOver eighty coverlets were analysed. Handweavers can replicate the textiles exactly, or use the designs to weave other types of fabrics. The book is also of value to antique dealers, textile researchers, museum curators, and coverlet collectors. Craftspeople wishing to incorporate these old designs into modern works may find inspiration in these pages.
